2016 Boudreaux Chardonnay
Russian River Valley
About this wine
93 points, Wine Advocate
The Boudreaux Vineyard is planted to the rare Montrachet clone. Using holistic and biodiverse farming principles gives a pure expression of cool-climate Chardonnay. Homestead of Kristina and Jeff Boudreaux and their two daughters, their Russian River Valley estate encompasses sheep pasture, an olive grove, apple trees and vineyards. Sourced from the block leading down from the family's home, the site boasts a gentle slope with well-draining soils and excellent exposure. These are the rows that ripen last in every vintage, so the clusters saw extended hang time to develop flavors.
Fresh aromas of green fig, sage and kaffir lime leaf. With air, notes of honeydew and wet stone emerge. On the palate, the satiny texture of the wine creates a pleasing tension against the orchard fruit acidity. Finishes on a firm mineral note that extends to a mouthwatering resolution. A cool climate Chardonnay that is at once delicate and structured.
